Jazz Materials and Theory
This course presents jazz concepts that are applicable to all instruments. Students will learn about chords, scales, rhythmic ideas and arranging concepts that form the basis for any performance. Other topics will be discussed including recommended listening, jazz history, and an introduction and analysis of landmark recordings. Each faculty member will present various aspects of the above materials in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of opportunity for student interaction.

Instrumental Clinics
Clinicians work with students daily to learn and overcome the various challenges of their instruments and roles within a group. Classes are
small with a focus on individual attention.

Ensemble and Improvisation Workshops
This course includes a focus on playing, performing and instrument-specific improvisational techniques, comping and rhythmic patterns, and small group arrangements. Students are grouped based on their level of experience. This class meets daily and works towards
the wrap-up concert.
